About Us

I’m Ryan — a chef by trade, a writer by instinct, and a lifelong lover of vinyl records, classic films, politics, and history. My world is a mix of sizzling pans and slow-burning ideas. I find inspiration in the rhythm of a well-scored noir scene, the pages of old biographies, and the quiet hum of a typewriter late at night. This blog is my way of giving voice to the thoughts that have lived too long in notebooks and kitchen corners.

Jamie is my muse, my co-conspirator, and the reason this blog exists. She’s a horse trainer with a soul stitched to the wild—someone who speaks fluent animal and lives with a kind of grace that only comes from working with nature. She’s also the brains behind our social media and advertising, the one who knows how to turn a whisper into a roar. Jamie’s been urging me for years to share my writing, and now, here we are.

Together, we believe in living deliberately, loving deeply, and creating something that lingers. Whether you’re here for reflections, recipes, or ravens—we’re glad you’re part of what drives us. Thank you for being part of it. And one more thing: 20% of all funds we earn through our work will be donated to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and Autism Speaks. Supporting causes close to our hearts is essential for us.

Every now and then I hear voices in my head, but not very clear. I can't understand what they are saying. It's a mental illness. I have been diagnosed as a manic depressive.

Amnesiac was written to make fun of senior citizens with alzheimers. I hate them and I wish they'd die.

”II want to talk about it and not feel any embarrassment or shame because I think it’s important for people to hear from adults who have good, fulfilling lives and manage chronic mental illness as part of those good, fulfilling lives.

---John Green

Anything that’s human is mention able, and anything that is mention able can be more manageable. When we talk about our feelings, they become less overwhelming, less upsetting, and less scary.

--Fred Rogers

"The world breaks everyone, and afterward, some are strong at the broken places."

Ernest Hemingway
What mental health needs is more sunlight, more candor, more unashamed conversation
